Privacy Policy

Effective Date: November 6, 2026
Last Updated: November 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Benjamin Sykes ("Covenant," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Covenant app and related services (the "Service"). It is part of our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:
- Account information: name, email address, password, and optional details you choose to add such as your birthday, anniversary, and whether you are the husband or wife
- Couple-linking information: invite codes and the connection between your account and your spouse's
- Assessment answers and results, game answers, and preferences
- Messages, photos, videos, and other content you send (including Disappearing Content)
- Communications with our support team and any reports you submit

Information collected automatically:
- Device and technical data: device type, operating system, app version, and IP address (in server logs)
- Usage data: features you use, so the app can work (for example, which questions you have answered)

Payment information: Purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your full payment card number.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to: provide and operate the Service; connect you with your spouse and deliver your content; personalize assessments and content; process subscriptions; provide support; detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms; comply with law; and improve the Service using aggregated or de-identified data.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages, photos, or videos for advertising.

3. Who Can See Your Information

Your spouse. Content you share in your couple space, including assessment results you choose to share, game answers, messages, and media, is visible to your linked spouse.

Service providers. We share information with vendors who help us run the Service, such as database hosting and storage (Supabase), app delivery (Expo), subscription management (RevenueCat), and payments (Apple), under contracts requiring them to protect it and use it only on our behalf.

Legal and safety reasons. We may preserve and disclose information if we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with law, a subpoena, court order, or other legal process; to report child sexual abuse material to NCMEC and law enforcement; to protect the safety of any person; or to protect the rights, property, or security of Covenant or our users.

Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.

4. Data Retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here:

  • Standard messages: until deleted by the sender or until account deletion
  • Disappearing Content: stored only to deliver it; deleted from active servers upon viewing by the recipient or after the time limit the sender chose. Unopened Disappearing Content remains stored until it is viewed or the account is deleted. Residual copies may remain in backup systems for up to 30 days before being overwritten.
  • Assessment results and game data: until account deletion
  • Account information: until you delete your account, then deleted promptly (backups within 30 days), except as described below.
  • Exceptions: We may retain information longer where required by law, to resolve disputes, to enforce our Terms, or where content is subject to a legal preservation obligation (for example, suspected child exploitation).

5. Disappearing Content — What You Should Know

Disappearing Content is designed to be deleted, but please understand: the recipient can capture it by screenshot, screen recording, or another device; deletion from our systems is not instantaneous; and brief residual copies may exist as described in Section 4. We cannot guarantee that Disappearing Content will never be saved or seen by others. Send only what you would be comfortable existing permanently.

6. Security

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, and access controls that limit each couple’s data to that couple. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You help protect your information by using a strong password and securing your device.

Data breaches. If we discover a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law, including the Florida Information Protection Act.

7. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and correction: You can view and update your account information in Us.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account through Us → Account → Delete account or by contacting covenant@covenantmarriageapp.com. Deleting your account does not delete content your spouse has already received or captured.
  • Notifications: You can manage push notifications in your device settings.
  • State privacy rights: Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, or to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact covenant@covenantmarriageapp.com. We will verify your identity before responding and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may appeal a denied request by replying to our decision.

8. Children

The Service is only for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it and terminate the account. If you believe a minor is using Covenant, contact covenant@covenantmarriageapp.com.

9. Where Your Information Is Processed

Covenant is based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the Service or by email before they take effect.
